“Some people regard discipline as a chore.
For me, it’s a kind of order that sets me free to fly.” -Julie Andrews

Who does not love Julie Andrews?!

Children thrive on consistency. A good bedtime routine for them and for you will give everybody better sleep. From the time when Sara was little we’d wind down with a bath, the brush teeth, read a book, and go to sleep. All I have to do it let her know what time it is and she knows what part of the evening it is. At 10.5 she’s doing the read, write, or draw time at 8 pm and lights out by 8:30 with rain sounds on. Then I get my time to chill, get ready for bed, and meditate for amazing sleep.

The discipline/habit of our routines keep it peaceful. The mornings have routine too, there’s not stressful decision making to do, so we don’t spend brain energy on the basics. The less you have to think about the daily habits, the more you can use your brain and decision making abilities for the rest of your life.

Our morning routine, is to wake around 7 am, meditate, get up around 7:30 get ready, make breakfast & lunch, then walk to school together. We started juicing in the evenings so we don’t have to do that in the morning and it’s a bit more mellow. The time in the mornings is so key to setting the tone for your entire day. Discipline = more peace.

What are your morning and bedtime routines?
